about

"The heart of DZ'OB creativity is redefining the genre stereotypes and experimentation with musical evolution. DZ'OB creates a bridge between the academic and electronic music. Debut self-titled album is an embodiment of idea of synthesis of two different musical layers.

Each track on the record is named after the relevant piano preludes by Dmitri Shostakovich. Track "X" is based on quotes from the tenth foreplay. While adapting the score to techno genre, DZ'OB used pieces of Shostakovich works, weaving them into an electronic pattern. Although "X" is a completely independent work. For example, clarinet is not a quote and plays a key role in the track, combining techno with diametrically opposite musical theme character. This track and all album tracks were recorded on Hi5Production studio in Dnipro, UA."

DZ'OB is an electro-acoustic ensemble. A synthesis of classical chamber music settings and contemporary electronic approach. Fusion of epochs and genres.

DZ'OB is an electro-acoustic ensemble from Dnipro, Ukraine

Being a cross-genre act, this 7-piece orchestra crashes to the ground a well-established musical concept in which, for example, house and Schnittke exist in completely different frames of reference. Eventually, DZ’OB not only synthesizes disparate genres, the band comes up with their unique, eclectic sound that blurs the line between epochs, schools and traditions. Piano Preludes by Shostakovich fused with bits and samples are reborn in the most incredible pieces of IDM.

With the same radicalism in musical technique, DZ'OB treats songs of one of our time’s most eccentric DJs - Aphex Twin. Suchwise ensemble generates inconceivable instrumental metamorphosis: electronic music becomes academic with a wave of a cello bow.

DZ'OB is not about genres, but a new vision of the music itself.

Ensemble is opened to collaborations with contemporary composers and musicians.
