"When I wrote this song I was living in a little cabin in the mountains, I was craving the solitude and I needed to get away from everything and remember myself in accordance to the terms I set instead of terms set by others. There was some pain around leaving things behind, but it also
felt like breaking out of a shell and being more of who I was. At the time, I didn’t want to be around people, I only wanted the solitude that leads to self-discovery. The way of life I saw many living wasn’t for me, so I felt a bittersweet sense of getting closer to myself and getting further

Waiting for indefinite designs
am I stuck in the middle or falling behind
aimless, like splattered paint
with worn down philosophies of beggars and saints
I’m feeling like keeping inside
there’s nothing for me
just let me do my time
broken, to break me out
honest and bloody in the face of doubt
sometimes, I feel like fighting
with the whole world around me like a streak of lightning

like a storm cloud
or a newborn child
