The Story behind „Scenes“

I wrote the song together with the producer Philipp Steinke in Berlin in 2018. We were in the studio working on some tracks and then he had this idea for the bass line and then everything happened quite fast. I came up with the melody and Philipp put down some chords.
It sounded fresh and retro at the same time and I was thinking about Stephan Sondheim's „send in the clowns“, one of my favorite songs. So classy and timeless.
I had the idea to write about social media and about the effects of my daily life. I know how bad it is, but I can’t stop myself from using social media and comparing myself to others. We all know that most people share an idealized version of themselves on social media, including myself…

Sometimes in the creating process, a song appears and you don’t where it came from. That's rare, but these are my favorite songs. Scenes is one of them.
